Hasta Quetzaltenango
Guatemala es un país lleno de contradicciones. La pobreza extrema convive con la abundancia extrema. La cultura Maya sigue estando viva en gran parte de la sociedad, así como la violencia, después de 36 años de la guerra civil. Están presentes el cielo y el infierno, dependiendo donde quieres mirar. Pero más allá de esta dicotomía hay una grieta, un espacio, que consiste en una diversa unidad. Lejos, lejos en el horizonte, el futuro esta brillando donde nuestros niños van a jugar. Espero que alcancemos ese lugar algún un día.

Guatemala är ett motsägelsefullt land. Extrem fattigdom går hand i hand med extrem rikedom. Kulturen från Mayaindianernas storhetstid lever fortfarande kvar samtidigt som våldet ligger som ett lock över det Guatemalanska samhället. Både himmel och helvete gör sig påmint beroende på om man tittar upp eller ner. Men bortom denna dikotomi finns det också en spricka, ett utrymme, som varken är det ena eller det andra. Långt där borta i horisonten skimrar den framtid som våra barn kommer leva i. Jag hoppas vi når dit.

On the way to Quetzaltenango
Guatemala is a country full of contradictions. Extreme poverty goes side by side with extreme wealth. The Maya culture are still alive and a part of the society as well as the violence after 33 years of civil war. Both heaven and hell are present, depending on where you are looking. But beyond this dichotomy there is a crack, a space, that consists of a different entity. Far away in the horizon shimmers the future where our children are going to play. I hope we will reach that place some day.
